Schools news
Let us know what your school is doing to support the campaign and we will post your news here.
Question Time at Newton Abbot
Fair funding for schools will be one of the topics when Newton Abbot College hosts BBC Radio Devon Any Questions at 11.30am on Friday 29th January. On the panel, chaired by Radio Devon presenter Michael Chequer, will be Richard Younger-Ross, Liberal Democrat MP for Teignbridge, Neil Parish, Conservative South West MEP and prospective Parliamentary candidate for Tiverton and Honiton, and Alison Seabeck, Labour MP for Plymouth Devonport.
Petition promotion at Holsworthy
Students at Holsworthy Community College are championing the Hands Up campaign. Students will be present at all parents' evenings at the College to ask parents to sign the campaign's petition on the Number 10 website. The aim is to encourage mums and dads to sign up in between their teacher appointments. Over 50 parents signed up at the college on the first evening and more have signed up since.
Gayner takes a lead
Cockwood parent Gayner Andrews decided to show her support for Hands Up by signing the petition and emailing to her local MP Richard Younger-Ross. Her MP responded by saying he is backing the campaign and has applied for a debate in the House of Commons about fair funding for schools. Well done Gayner and thanks Richard for your support.
